Paddlefish cannot pump water over their gills and must swim constantly to stay alive. The requirement to swim at all times (more than their maximum size) is the reason these fish need such large enclosures. I had one before. They don't do well in the home aquarium.

Why do people think these guys are endangered. Here in KY I cant keep 8 fish a day from the wild if I wanted!

Im trying to find a phone number as this hatchery is about 45min from my house and see what else they have! Bowfin would be nice...
