Has anyone seen tom halvorsen's site lately? He's selling a breeding pair of Channa Barca for £1995!!! He's says their the only pair in the world available. Thats one damn expensive fish. If i win the lottery I AM SO GETTING THEM!

It's rare yes, there are literally a handful in captivity. They are beautiful too though, I've seen videos of them.

There are 5 or 6 in captivity. Very rare. If I win the lottery I will be getting them.

I have been one of his friends shop which he has a about 9 large tanks in and I think I have seen them but I am not sure if it is them. His stockroom is just about 20-30minutes drive from me but members of the public arnt allowed in as he is wholesale so you have to arange a appointment and meet him outside to buy any fish.

i think at the moment he is moving/or setting up again at a new building and only really has reptiles at the moment.
he gets good fish though

Yep, jelly's right with his photos... the first is auranti and the others are barca. AWESOME deal though. As I recall, it used to be something like 2500 pounds EACH... so his price has come down quite a bit. If I was in the UK they'd be in my tank!

Yeah I heard he sold them to someone in Japan. But they want around £2000 for shipping so he is thinking about buying a ticket for himselt and having them as hand luggage as freight shipping is so much. Not sure if it will work for him though. He has stopped sale to the public and only deals with shops :(. He supplys most of the shops around my area though.

they are not a breeding pair - yet- they are a male and female which have bonded and been together in the same tank for quite a while, originally they were in tanks side by side until it was safe enough to try them together. whoever bought them is very lucky to have such great fish and i hope they are settling in well, they love earthworms and prawns and were ravenous eaters so they should settle in pretty quickly and hopefully get down to breeding soon!

You can't take fish on as hand luggage, I have spoken to various authorities. More the pity! :(
