if you want to keep it with peacock cichlids, (and possibly even the snooks) the arowana may eat the other fish depending on size. They grow very fast and have massive mouths, and while not all of them are really aggressive, they'll snack on whatever they can.

Search through MFKs community vendors, you should be able to find one for a good price there. Do lots of research and ask lots of questions before deciding on a aro. They get huge and do it quit fast so your gonna need a very large tank. You will need a 180g 6' x 2' x 2' tank within 18 months and the aro should be moved to a larger tank after that.
I would recommend getting one, but first understand what you are getting into.

wow, apparently my Pinky is cramped and not growing fast enough.. and apparently all her tank mates should be dead.
amazingly 1 year later everybody is alive.. and healthy and we still have room to swim.. what am i doing wrong?

anyway.. Pinky was about 5 inches when we got her, and the big C. ocellaris was only about 4 inches when she came to live with him about a year ago..
we've had no problem with the aro, the peacock bass or the snooks being together in the big tank.. i say GO FOR IT.. just make sure the fish that are in the tank when you introduce your arowana aren't swallowable.

Peacock cichlids and peacock bass (even though they are cichlids) are 2 entirely different things with massive differences in size and growth rate. Also, peacock cichlids are African, but we won't get into that yet.

rally, i understand.. i don't know why but i had a feeling that he was just stating the name of the fish wrong. maybe it's because i can't imagine africans getting along with snooks in the same tank? lol.
or maybe it doesn't make sense to me to keep SA cichlids with african cichlids? anyway, i'm glad i guessed right.

So if I get an arowana, make sure he won't get ate at first, then that he'll grow up in peace with the others? maybe.
