This is an awesome pic!

Its good that they are pellet trained...easy on the pocket as well...but lack the killing aggression...

:grinyes:

Letting them eat live...might make them wean off pellets...

Nice gars man. how big are they? I would definately stick to the pellets if you already have them on it. I wish my gar ate pellets, and the dats, and the pbass, even my pike cichlid won't eat pellets anymore. Spoiled them on MP.

Is that a Dovii I see in the background..?

ive got my gar eating live feeders and dried krill, i only put the feeders in once a week, and last week i underestimated how many they would go thorugh, so they were gone by the next day. about 3 days later the gar would hit the krill as i threw it into the tank

my spotted gar doesnt eat pellets but just about any type of frozen food (krill, silversides, bloodworms, etc) and he love feeders as well

although gars usually dont swim around alot in the aquarium, they are some of the most interesting predators to watch eat - i love watching the stealth approach of my gar when going after feeders, he is completely motionless while the fish just swim around hi mouth and then...SNAP... he grabs one, flips head first and chomps it down.. really remind of the fish version of a gator the way they eat

feeding a variety of foods to your fish is always important, and althoug some argue against feeders, pellets and frozen food just is not the same with some fish!

I would suggest if it must have a mate, it should be about the same size
