I never found the answer to this... (curious to it)

Whats the true purpose of having a certificate for Asian Arowana (beside identifying the fish)? Is it illegal to purchase/trade/sell if they dont have the proper certificate?

What if I got a pair of RTG and they have babies, do they need the certificate and chip to in order to sell them? Does the certificate and chip affect their value or is it the same if they dont have?

I think the purpose is to authenticate the farm which the aro comes from. Thou these days their are plenty of fake ones being made.

Perhaps I shold make a fake one for my silver...lol

Because the fish are listed under appendix I of CITES, it's still illegal to trade internationally between countries who are party to CITES without a CITES certificate and more importantly, a RFID tag.

There are parties to CITES, however, who don't require tags/certificates for fish traded within their country. CITES remember is the Convention for International Trade in Endangered Species, meaning they regulate trade between countries, and therefore a certificate is required. It's also for identification purposes, and a pedigree to some extent.
