Possible 540g: Glass Edging?

I was calling around last night for quotes on some glass for my DIY 540 and I was wondering what edging would be best for an aquarium?

Will unfinished edges have ill-effect on the silicone?

I had the edges finnished so I didn't cut myself or through the epoxy during install.
