Yeah, the thing was like at death's door when I rescued it. It's fat now, compared to the way it was. Looks like its doing well Pat, keep us updated.

good that you guys were able to save the fish! looks like it's on its way to becoming a very healthy and well-patterned individual...get it on prepared foods (if it isn't already) and it should fatten up quite nicely (shrimp is a good staple). looking forward to updated pics in the future!--

It is stuborn doesn't want to even touch prepared. It will only take live. Maybe I should try night crawlers.

try raw shrimp or smelt on a feeding stick, this will usually work best after a day or two of fasting the fish as well. any gar will eventually come around, keep us posted and good luck!--

try krill, i handfed my gar krill and then moved to market shrimp. that thing has a big ass head lol

Nice gar Pat, good luck with getting him off live food. My gar used to only eat minnows but now he loves freeze dried shrimp, cichlid pellets, crickets and the occasional convict cichlid.

kool looking gar what size tank do u have him in?
It's in a 75 till it gets about 14-15" to go with my other FL.
