What do you guys feed dats that are in the under 3" range?

I've got mine on earthworms, but it won't come near anything else, and I'm not going to touch feeders. I'd like a more varied diet for the little bugger, but I need it to grow before I can feed it shrimp, clams, and mussels.

Do the ever go over to pellets? Mine will get excited when I feed the other fish pellets and flake, but won't commit.

So really, just list food and food ideas for small dats. Thanks.

Does it take it from the surface? Mine won't touch stuff that floats. :(
