how do u get gars on frozen bloodworms instead of Feeder FIsh?

Maybe u can try starving them for a fews days before u start feeding them bloodworm. It works for me in the past,hope this will help u too

would it work for a needle nose gar that they sell at petsmart ?

I think so, but not very sure. U can try, anyway no harm to starve them for a few days

if by needlenose gar you mean needlefish (Xenentodon cancila) then they are very hard to get on prepared foods. it will probably never happen. i had one for about a year that i tried to get off of live foods. goodluck though.

Hope u can covert the diet of your gar sucessfully, same fish different owner= different outcome. My friend told me tat motoro will feed on market prawns but was not sucessful for me. There might be alots of other factors behind this, maybe i been feeding my motoro on feeders for a period of time or ...... So at the end of the day is whether u wanna try or not

what i have observed is the same as many on here have observed. it may be possible, but i have never seen one take non-live foods.
