I thought it would be fun to see what kind of fish people would hybridize if you could mix any species together. This is just for fun, so anything goes, practicality doesnt matter. Pictures/drawings make this much more interesting and it can be for personality or looks, or both!! Here is one of mine: My 13" Black Rhom mixed with my 8.5" Front

lol Well, He's about 11" since that is about half way between 8 and 13.
Both my Rhom and Front are very layed back so I think this guy would be a great fish to sit back and relax watching.

I know where and when is just a matter of having enough time free......
These are popping up as naturally reproducing in a specific locality.
No worries Jordan I'll surely tell you when we go after these ;)

Naturally occurring hybrids?
Yes these are naturally occurring..At one time they where tossed around to be an Eighth species of gar but they are in fact a hybrid.
Natural occurring hybrids of many fish are actually not that rare. Some are just much more spectacular than others.

There are bunches of them actually...
These pics show what very well was a Shortnosed X Longnosed hybrid. Someone I do know that has one has confirmed it but I still call it suspected..
This fish is affectionately know as Lepisosteus medius or the Medium nosed gar in our circles...

Tiger Muskies are a cross between Northern Pike and Muskellunge, I believe they do cross on occasion in the wild.
Just a small bit of info from http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/education/tigermuskie/tigermuskie.html
"The tiger muskie is a sterile hybrid cross between the muskellunge and the northern pike. The hybrid gets its name from its distinct, dark vertical bars, although some large individuals display very little barring. Whereas the hybrid can occur in the wild where both species coexist, the vast majority of hybrids are produced in the hatchery. The female muskie is usually preferred due to its greater egg production than the female northern pike. However, the northern pike and muskellunge cross is often used when suitable numbers of female muskie are not available. Maryland obtains its tiger muskie fingerlings from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in exchange for fingerling striped bass."
