So recently I was at my local water company's lake and I saw the HUGEST bluegill I've ever seen in my life lying on it's side on the top of the lake..(no it's not dead.lol) He was over 16"..I'm dead serious..look up "world record bluegill" it was bigger than that..
What should I do to catch this guy and the other guys I see? I tried spinners and small jigs and the big guys chase them but don't attack it..Would a nightcrawler do them?

And I saw a huge bass too, so I threw out a 4inch pumpkin senko on a wacky rig..I'm surprised, there has been no time that I didn't catch a big bass I can see using the wacky rig(although I lost ever one of them since I suck at setting the hook).. Why didn't it work? What would work for those big bass you can see swimming around?

Bluegills love night crawlers. If they it doesnt bite on that try minnows.
As for the big bass try catching small bluegills and use them as live bait, the bass will love them.

Would frozen minnows work? tiny rosy reds.

And the bass don't go for the bluegill in this lake..
Plus, there were various sizes of bluegill all around the bass and they didnt chase them so..

Swimbaits work great for large bass.

Practice hook setting with the Senko. I love 'em.
Gills also tend to tear up crickets.

I suggest crickets for the bluegill, and small bluegill (4-6") for the bass.

The reason that you dont see a bass go for the bluegill is because they have little chance going after a healthy one. Once you throw a hook in the back of the gill and it struggles it sets the bass off and they can resist!

thanks everyone..it'll be nice if I'm the next bluegill record holder.lol

And I'll try a injured bluegill in front of him.

and when I use the kreature for sight bass fishing..how should I retirieve it? Like boucing on the bottom, straight constant retrieve..? Can I use 10lbs test line mono with it? The water is kinda a blue-ish green-ish color. Because of the medication. Since my rods only have either 6lbs, 10lbsmono or 20lbs & 65lbs test braid. And I can't throw light baits on my 20lbs braid baitcaster, since I backlashed it..lol

and you know I keep ontrying the storm swimbaits everywhere but nothing..
the only swimbait that has caught me fish is the bbz from spro.

last question..when I fish 1/2 oz stikeking jigs. How do I set the hook; it constantly feels like there's a fish there since it's so heavy.. How do I know a bass has taken it?

haha man when I suedto go fishing @ the lakes for bluegills, we always used ham, hotdog pieces, etc. These guys will go for anything. We would catch a bucket of at minimum, 50 bluegills in less than an hour! :)

Heres a secret you can use, get one of those three hook treble(is that how you spell it?), clip off two of the hooks and there one hook left will be super small and fit easily into the bluegills mouths.

Trust me, you'll be catching them immediately after tossing your line into the water.

By the way, have any of you ever kept bluegills in a tank or pond?
I remember keeping a dozen of them in the pond with my koi and they got quite big and would even eat dead flies right out of my hand. it was quite cool!

well i know the little bluegills will go for anything.. they're BIG and smart. as soon as they see me they're off..slowly..
i mean the biggest one is the owner of the lake..he won't be dumb enough to be get caught during the day on rod&reel..

no, i'm trying to get some baby and adult bluegill in my tank. How long have you kept them to get them tame?

and i will try injured bluegill, for the big bass.l
