hey i was wondering instead of using rocks or pebbles to cover the bottom of a fish tank if you could use those 12x12 squares of vynel kitchen/bathroom tiles its the ones with the paper u peel off the back and there a little sticky and u would put some tile glue down and then stick em on but in this case instead of glue i would use silicone but its got no ceramic or grout involved just a square floppy lookin tile real light ya know what i mean? that would be safe wouldnt it?

Both the tile itself and the glue used in them are toxic to fish. You could probubly do it with ceramic squares but that would be a mess IMO.

I think it could work, but would be ugly looking IMO.

IDK.. pm him to find out for sure.. :)

I have used 12 x 12 tile made of slate in aquarium too hold down some driftwood.

ahh i see so about those little square ceramic tiles you think those would be fine? if i put some silicone down on the bottom and then put the little squares together? or would the grout be safe?? or should i use silicone

I think I would just place the tiles in the bottom of the tank without securing. This may be beneficial for cleaning.

Vinyl is inert, it's PVC, same as the pipes used in W/D filters. The adhesive would concern me, and your tank bottom would look like a kitchen floor.
