I just got another 10g tank and need your guys and gals opinions on what kind of Cichlid pair would be good. Let me know, i would like something bright that would go good with the Electric Yellows someday in a bigger tank. So Africans would be great.

if not for the african part, i would have suggested a gold or bolivian ram. Not gonna work if you plan on adding them to a group of africans later on though.

I was thinkiing the same thing. Go with gold or german blue rams.

Apistogrammae Cockatuoides would be good. They are a small dwarf cichlid that does well with discus but is not aggressive at all so would not do well with larger africans unless you plan on using them for expensive feeders...

cryptoheros nanoluteus (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8864) , They're like dwarf convicts and breed like em too.
Crenicichla compressiceps, dwarf pikes from Rio Tocantins.

i would go with a pair of rams in a heavily planted tank with sand. That would look pretty sweet. I've wanted a smaller tank that i could just fill with plants, looks like you have a good opportunity

Depending on what Africans later on, maybe N. brichardi they stay small are not aggressive and readily available.

i would go w/ a pair of N.brichardi or some other Neolamprologus species

I agree with the rams I have one myself in my tank and its my favorite fish. But it wouldnt do well if your planning to move it up.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to jump on the band wagon here. I say Blue or Gold Rams.
Or both. They are cool little fish.

The suggestion for Neolamprologus brichardi is a good one, but be warned they are definitely not a passive cichlid. Mine tooled on and eventually killed off every other african in the tank, and the brichardi were added last and were way smaller than the others. They're all alone now, and it looks like it's gonna stay that way.

Try peacock cichlids, they are nice and not real agressive.

Kribensis, German blue/gold rams, or Bolivian rams, or a really small pair of Convicts.

I would also have to agree, I kept one 10gal with gold rams and another with blue rams. They are very pretty fish, I would not put them with larger Africans in the long run, and if you do then say goodbye b/c they will be food.

Another thought might be a pair of J. transcriptus. They max at around 3" and would be able to mix with the labdichromis

I wouldnt keep a labidochromis in a 10gal they max out at around 5 inches and is recomended that they have 20-30gallon tanks depending on how many you have.

I was thinking for when they would move to a larger tank

Rams, Kribs, Freiberg's Peacock Cichlids, Blue Acaras, Chequerboard Cichlids, Dickfelds Julies, Marliers Julies, Striped Julies, Ruby Cichlids

All these should be fine !

If you plan on moving them into a larger thank then that's fine, just make sure you have the tank before they get too big =) I keep a yoyo eel with mine and I am getting atype of xenotalapia or bichir (sp) with mine they do fine together from personal experience and from some of my friends experiences =) but if you do get alot of fish I would suggest 30 gallon+ when you do get a bigger tank just to give you an Idea 5 Labidochromis need at least a 30gallon tank! When you get everything set up post pictures!
