For the most part you can if they are of similar size. I dont do it anymore since i had a spectacled caiman take a shot at me while i was working with the gator in the same tank. Thankfully i expect that from caiman and true crocs and hell gators too for that matter. The other thing is i'd really recomend quarantine procedures for anything new. For the most part they are very hard critters but no sense risking a healthy happy gator with a new and mostly likely farm raised/imported caiman and his little tag along critters.

rayman45
05-14-2005, 5:51 PM
i got plenty of time to think of that
most likely a chicken net 3-4 feet above the pool

Maybe, only if glue a live comet to your hand and put your hand in the SH tank.

rayman45
05-14-2005, 7:10 PM

iheartfishies
05-14-2005, 7:22 PM
then you can dip something else in the tank.

:help2: Would I have a problem if I put a baby Alligator Snapping Turtle in with my American Alligators? Because I was thinking the Snapper would just stay underwater and the Gators stay mostly on land... but i thought I should ask on the forum before going and getting a Snapper and ending up someone getting critically injured or dead. :feedback:

were the gators alot bigger than the common snappers? Im surprised the commons didn't leave the gators without some serious chunks of flesh missing... were the commons too scared to fight back, and act like bullied fish?

rayman thats very irresponsible on your part to own two gators, gators are for life they are commitment animals and do you know how much power a 4 foot gator has in it obviously you dont i have 3 spectacled caimans and two dwarf witch i have had since i was fifteen i am now almost nineteen and i know that i will have them for the rest of there lives, also do you know how much gators eat when there growing and 3 plus feet its reasons like you that the herpetological society is frowned upon i dont mean to be rude but ask any herpetologist how much care goes into alligators i can guarentee that you are not even close to properly houseing feeding and maintaning those inocent animals.....................

I never had a problem with mine, as long as they are close to the same size, you shouldn't have a problem.
