anyone breed amano shrimp?
The larva need to go into salt water to live.
Move the female into a small container of FRESH water when she is about to drop her larva. DO NOT PUT THE ADULT SHRIMP INTO SALT WATER, SHE WILL DIE.
You should be able to tell when the young are ready to drop, they get lighter in color, and you can see eye spots if you have a magnifying glass. When the larva are released you will see tiny little dots darting and swimming around.
Put the larva into the saltwater ASAP, just dump them in, no need to acclimate them.
They live in salt water until they morph into their adult form. When they look like little adult shrimp you can gradually dilute the saltwater with fresh water until it is all fresh.
There is an article on-line about raising these shrimp, including what to feed them, etc. BTW, the article says you have a window of 8 days to get the larva into salt water, but I found that if left in fresh water for as little as 3 days they die.
I'll try to post the link to the article.

Hope this helps!
