you know that he is more than likely going to kill every fish that you have in that tank right, mine is 5 and a half inches and has a wicked personality, and i am betting that yours will to.
i got him to kill the tetras i down to 3 neons now i started wit 6. at least i dont need to feed him

same goes for your rams, and everybody else
i dont have any rama in the tank now i gave 2 to my freind nick cuz they were about to breed but the female died cuz the make messed her up . I moved the other to my bros tank. But the Mota chases around my geo and my lab and kills the neons for now
The clowns for my avatar are to big for him to bully

nice fish. im sure you will like him
why cant these rookie fish owners realize that you either have a relaxed community tank of neons, cory's angels etc. or you have a predatory tank with big aggressive fish. Why would you put a mota with neons thats just ignorant. The fact that you have lost 2 neons doesn't make your mota extra mean or aggressive it just means he's a mota doing what aggressive predators do. Do your other small community fish a favor, get them a new home or get rid of them....

How do you tell the differance between a male and female Mota. I have a mota that is about 2.5 inchs and looks similar to your Zorro.
I have been trying to determin whether i have a male or female.

nice pics from both. i was going to get 2-3 today but black belts were in.
The female once mature will have more red on her gill plate and throughout the body in general when compared to the male, and the male will be larger.
might get 1 and try to mix with a black belt
nice pick up... congras...

Parachromis are a group of large and agressive cichlids from Central America known as guapotes. Some of the largest of the species are also more recognizable in the hobby under the names Parachromis dovii and Parachromis managuensis. All are considered very agressive preditory type of fish and specialized care is required especially at breeding and feeding times. Parachromis motaguense is a very beautiful fish and is arguably the most attractive guapote which is somewhat surprising given that they are not very popular or well known in the hobby. These animals are equipped with a set of teeth called pseudocanines and they are used frequently by the male when guarding his territory and fry. Cleaning the tank during breeding time can be a dangerous if you are not careful. Motaguense are known to fling themselves at exposed hands or against the glass with alarming speed, occasionally even breaking off their pseudocanine teeth which then grow back a few weeks later.
Thanks you for the info
