Looks like theyve gone down the fathers line during breeding. Might be an idea to try to breed the larger male back to his mum.

We need more info. What was the father? What was the mother? Do you have pics of both?

turned out to be a short body super red texas. quality is not that great though. try getting a female red mammon so the body will not look like that and the color of the red mammon is much redder.

where are the parents? The first few fish look like something else was used in the mix other than the right ingredient? Just look a bit off?

Father 2 kinds of texas/Mother kkp .Do you think that it is possible for the first three to still peel? They do look like a similiar color as the one that peeled did before it did.But if they dont i think there still sweet.

You gotta long way before you even start really seeing any red in their offspring. Why not just start over with some TRUE red tex?

you made a mistake of getting rid of him. that was a better male than what you have now. that male could be easily mated with a red mammon and have a much better chance of getting an srt or at least a better quality.

Sorry dude. He looks like crap in the pic you posted. Maybe it's just because he was washed out by the flash. Turn your lights on and try taking a pic without flash when he's calm. I know it may be blurry, but at least we can see true colors.

Hmmmm....weird Tex. Sure he's cool looking, but not the best candidate for RT.

the father is still way better. much more pearls big pearls which you are looking for when you are trying to make an srt. the father pears will come out more when bred to a red mammon. the son dont have that visible pearls so its not a good candidate for breeding if you are looking to get an srt. dont get me wrong the son is a nice fish though.

Do you think it is possible that the son carries the big pearl genes resesive and red genes so if i breed him to say another fish from 2 seperate parents that also carry those genes they could throw a couple babies who look closer I mean look at his bro same genes. my budy has a female midas and a male texas and i thought if i got one of the female fry i would breed it up but deffently a female that peals and i hope to get a little closer becuase i dont have the means to get a red mammon dont want to spend a bunch of money.Or do you think you breed based on what the fish looks like not the genes it could throw honestly i dont know im just guessing.
babychris

it is always better to breed fish based to the initial look of the fish. the father texas is 100% full breed. after you bred him the son would only get about 50% of the genes so the genes would start changing. if you can buy another male like the father that would be great. regarding the parrot dont buy the small parrot buy a king kong parrot. the diffenrence on a kkp and a regular parrot is that kkp can close their mouth and the regular parrot cant. check it out. thanks.

good info to find out brother. cause i still currently have the mom. and i believe you to be wrong about the dads yo. cause i haven't bred your old male to her yet. all those babies were from same dad. 2 different batches tho. i have one that is gonna peel, and you got one and gave it away :bonk:
however that son you have is gonna be a mean s.o.b. so you better watch out. i don't think i will have any males turn out like him. just strange that they are all bros & sisters and yet look so different.

I would say that srt have great pearls and embossed worm like pearls. To cull some siblings and leave the better ones to live is the most appropriate term to provide breeders a chance of showmanship of their breeding.Others who have sentimental value of trying to save the uglies are not really worth for me.Well, happy fishkeeping! Just love the hybrids!!!
