I'm sure it would, if you could make it happen. I saw a convict x texas cichlid today, and I am going to be picking it up soon. Pics coming ;)

i saw this post a couple of weeks ago and thought that would make an interesting mix and tonight i looked in my 80gallon and it has happend. I have about 150 little fry swimming around with my salvini and convict guarding them. I'm honestly shocked that this has happened, the salvini is about 4" and the convict 3" but at this point i dont know who's the mom and who's the dad but i definetley have SALVINI+CONVICT fry. Right now i have also in the tank 4" Oscar and a 3"Jewel and 3"JD but they are kept at bay by the parents but do you think the fry will survive in this tank? Also what should i feed them?

Almost anything is possible with cons. I've had conxtexas, conxsalvini, conxblue eyed cichlid, and now my current project is a conxmidas hybrid. Haha giant cons or mini midas, its gonna be great. I'm just growing out my male cons to full size to breed with a female barred midas. Where I live barred midas were hard to find but now a have a few sources and this project can go full steam ahead.
Wish me luck

No, I don't think the fry can survive for long in such a tank. You should feed them finely crushed/ powdered flakes, pelets, or anything their parents eat. If you have time, brine shrimp nauplii, microworms, whiteworms, or anything bite-sized. They should not be picky eaters... ;)

Best regards.

Daniel.

Convic faces and salvini bodies, happened with my convic/gt and my convic/texas

It seems that the convics faces always show up in hybrids, rest is other parent. So good chance it will have convic face and salvini colors

Well I planned on doing the same, but I do not have the room in my apartment. I was goona do Firemouth x Convict and Firemouth x Salvini and then Con/Fire x Fire/Vini. However I do not have room. I do have the actual fish though. 2 Male Firemouths, 1 Female Con, 1 Female Savini.
