I saw a few of them at a lfs and they were just sitting there liek logs. Not sure if it was just them or what. Are they pretty boring? Moreso than ornates? thx

My lap was probably most active at lights out and was exceptionaly agressive but agression will vary between individuals. If you want active bichirs stay with the upper jaw smaller species such a senegals, pollis and delhezis-Anne

None of my laps are what i'd consider active. most just sit on the bottom or in hiding until feeding or lights out. after lights out, they will come out and stay in the open, but i don't think they're swimming around much... still i don't find them boring ;) if you want active bichirs, stick with anne's suggestions...

yeah thats the only proublem there not to active but still very cool looking and don't get giant like endlis but still big

mine are lazy ... only active when they smell food ... mine are in bare tank which makes them less territorially aggressive

probably not for the casual bichir keeper. ;)

mines as exciting as driftwood.

Polypterus bichir lapradei are still wild caught not farmed so small specimens are hard to find-Anne

I have heard they are starting to farm them but this has not been confirmed as of yet
