Don't quote me on this, but I think penguins are only available to people with special licenses, and they only hand those out to zoos and large, well established institutions

Yeah. I just read an article saying that penguins are very illegal. And it would be cruel to keep only one penguin as they are very social animals. So I would have to keep an entire colony. And per animal they they cost 700. per year in fish. So i guess I won't be getting a pengee anytime soon.
 
These penguins are Red List LC (Least concerned). I've been around penguins and their constant rotting fish odor is enough to keep me from getting any. But, good luck in your search.

lol, it's okay. How many us are flustered by the fact that we can't have the fish we want. I just found out we can't have any arowana other than the silver in miami!!! I was looking forward to setting up a tank for an african :(
 
oddball, where would you even start looking for a penguin?

Well, what if it makes me very sad that I can't own a penguin? Can you imagine coming home from philosophy class every day to your wife, son and a penguin. That would be awesome.
