Hello guys.....!!!!

As i promised, i will do this new arapaima's thread.

More than 50 pics of Arapaima Gigas (in MALAYSIA) over here, i would like to share out in this website.

i've been to a lot of places for this year----> lots of LFS, public aquarium, national zoo, pet's wonderland, fish farm, etc....

i took all those Photos and Pics by myslf.

HOPE all the ARAPAIMAss lovers and all the MFK's members enjoy this.

i took all those pic (below) from a public aquarium, which located at KLCC (Kuala Lumpur Convention Center), which is 2nd tallest building in the world.

2 arapaimas, wth lots of Pacu, and RedTail catfish....

in a very large amozon tank.

those ARAPAIMAs still small, bout 6 - 7 ft, RTC are 3++ ft, Pacu 1.5 - 2 ft.

here, my visit to National Zoo of Malaysia.

a MEGA size of AMAZON TANK.

wth lots of arapaimas ( more than 8), lots of Pangasius (XXXL size), and lotssss of small little amazon and tropical fishes in there.....

Arapaima 5 - 9ft, Pangasius 3 - 4 ft.

Those are Paroon sharks, and they are impressive!!! I wished I had a big enough place to house one!

ok, some pics before i went to bed...

Photos was taken in a one of a famous local (malaysia, shah alam) Hyper market itslf , called "GIANT", something like TESCO, MAKRO etc...

they put those arapaima (only 2 actually) in a big public fish tank near the entrance.

arapaima hit 6ft in length (almost i predict).

i only manage to took one of them, another one hidding (maybe sleeping) at the bottom of the fish, hard to take pho of 'him'.

All the same family but Paroons get WAY bigger than Iridescents. Shape is different too.

Some nice big specimens! I wonder if I can post some of my gigas photos on your thread? I could start another but it seems pointless as long as you dont mind....? (I am hosting these photos myself so they are easy to remove).

In the pool, jst beside the entrance, 3 BIG & FAT arapaimas (6 - 7 ft) ,wth lots of alligator gars( 2 to 3ft)....

Ur kidding?? Is all this from fish stores??? Holly crap looks like a seaworld to me or a zoo. Can u buy these fishes if u want?? I cant belive this if its so.. Here in sweden do the fish store have like one 1000-1500liter tank as max, and rest of them are like 100liter.. Thats awsome and the Pacu what an awsome fish

i went to the LFS yesday (again), to buy some drift wood.

and took some photo, no new fish added ths time in that big PIMA pool.

located at Pandan Jaya, Cheras, Malaysia.

a Koi Farm, wth lots lots of KOI fishes selling there.

Selling kinda cheap (if buy in a big quantity).

A young arapaima was there too, selling VERY CHEAP, bout 3++ft (almost 4ft) young arapaima, (i asked one of their workers, and i was told ----> ) only for RM 500 ( after convert to usd$, its only usd$ 135++, issit cheap ??? ).

here, pic, unfortunate, water is kinda cloudy, cant take a good shot, sory guys.

i will try to take a good shot nxt time, if that arapaima was still there.

i will visit a seafood restaurnt (again).

i been there last week, during night, wth my friend for dinner.

i was told by one of my MFK's friend, and there is only One thing special do attract me -----> yes, it is ARAPAIMA...!!!!!!

an arapaima pool was there, too bad, i cant take any pic at night, its too dark and its raining, even if i turn on my camera's flash...

but im sure, i will visit that seafood restrnt again asap.

Hi Vinson, there's also a few arapaima at the express stop on the way from KL to Johor. If you use SE express they will stop there on the way. If you have not visited it give it a go. It's the Yong Peng Express Stop opp the Mobil Petrol Station.

If you manage to be there ask around. It on the left hand side of the Bus Express stop from the entrance. Convienent place with canteen and so on.

i went to Selayang ths afternoon.... kind of disapointmnt.

i was told that there is a public aquarium inside the SELAYANG MALL, whch has BIG ARAPAIMAs and RTC.... but i found nothng in Selayang Mall. :(

like a year? if u can imagine they grow around 3-4 inches per month until they r around 3 feet so maybe even less than a year!!! depending on how much u feed it.

Unfortunally i do not have/keep arapaima. Only have Koi, pacus, barbs, guppies (do they count??), cichlids and arowana.

today i go to LFS and got a great deal(exotic deal)..the owner said to me, somewhere here there's monster sized arapaima, you know what!!?..5 log arapaima..iam shocked :eek:, i didn't believe it..i ask him to go there and maybe next time he brought me...Gotta see these giant later :D..

i went to a LFS (Xiang Leng Aqua, Shah Alam) yesday. And finally bought some nice Filter Water Pump.

no new fish added ths time, as usual, 4 pimas (6 to 8ft), lotss of Gator Gar (2 to 3ft), 2 Channa Micropeltes (2ft), and a Paroon Shark (3.5ft).

ahhh...i know that place...ive been there few years ago...its a BUS stop where all the north-south-north busses stops for lunch/dinner,i remembered...nearly 10 years ago....theres a park dedicated to Arapaima in Johor its located between Senai and Kulai....awesome place....but not sure whether it is still there, i fear not.

Went to a LFS jst now (the owner is friend of mine, knew each other for 5 years)....

Well,
Baby arapaima (6-7inchs) selling for RM 170 (us$ 46) for customers, but for me, the BEST price i can get frm him, is RM 140 for each (us$ 38). :naughty:

its a type of knifefish...very very aggressive....quite a character...u should check it out man....if its under rm100, i might get one. Really interesting fish to keep. Try look for their video on Youtube, ull see how evil they are.

yup those guys get like 6' and wow they are just like amazing and also aggressive with a temper not to mess with lol =] and yes it is a type of knifefish but it just has its fins on its back not its belly like the others...and they are more elongated

As a lot of you know, he can be found here in Brasil too, in tha Amazon basin.
His name, Pirarucu comes from two indian names: Pira (that means fish) and Urucum (red) - name given 'cause of his tail color.

I got two babies and they are growing fast. After some months, the older one (OZZY) hasabout 45cm, and the small one (Zach) has about 39 to 40cm.
