Was going to get a 96"*36"*30" and it wont fit throught the doors to my first floor. Sh*t! Can I get away with 96"*24"*36" for my two aros and gars to grow old!?
I believe that latter tank size you mentioned is the minimum size for those monsters. How come 30" wont fit through the front door? What is the size of the door, if you don't mind me asking?

I really want to put it in my basement where the one now is but the only door is 28"! Upstairs I could fit a 30" wide through but it may be too heavy!? Don't want to push it, older house!?
Basement is a better place :)

How wide is the stairway? I removed a door and door frame to get a large tank through. It only took unscrewing 8 screws. Once the tank was in, the door went back in in less than 10 minutes. A line of caulk and some paint over the screw heads and no one can tell the door was ever removed.

So why not go with a 96"L x 36"W x 24"H tank? This would give you the extra width for the gars to turn around in and would still fit thru your doorway. Just a thought.

Hmmm...I would just use some Cinder blocks and 4x4s. Unless it is going to be a display tank, then use something to cover the makeshift stand...
