maybe since they have the same shape and fins BUT one seems to be a ast peacock chiclid:screwy: maybe im not an expert.....
and the other seem to be maybe a yellow lab chiclid or elcetric yellow chiclid?
other then that they both seem to be the same species.
i know this doesnt help:irked:

thanks anyway..you tried.. definitly not a yellow lab.. maybe hybrid though.. just would like to know for sure, you gave it a shot ..and i appreciate it. :D
I would say they are both hybrids with likely some of the same fish in them. They might even have some albino in them. (Though are the fins white, or blue?) Base seems to be zebras of some sort, mixed with who knows I do like the body/fin contrast with colors though.

Thank you..they are both a pretty fish but i just don't want them to breed then.. so i want to put them where that won't be possible..thanks Ikevi!

Not hybrids at all. The orange one is a male Red Zebra and the other one is a female peacock.

how does a female peacock have color?
This one is albino..and i have been told she is a peacock by another expert..he was explaining that these fish were bred in the far east intentionally to look like a taiwan reef. female albino...they're may be some truth to that..She is either peacock albino or Taiwan reef albino..and of course this leaves me up in the air as far as getting a male for her..i just may get a few babies..and grow them up.

The peacock is a hybrid. Most likely what they call the Sunburst/Pink/Strwaberry Peacock. They have nice bright colors as Juvi and fade somewhat as an adult.
It is possible that this is a female even with color, only way to tell for sure is to vent it.

The yellow ones look more like male kenyi to me... and the peacock's a peacock of course... IME, the reds never show a hint of striping. I've bred them myself.

My goodness how this thread has gone. And hence you have the problems that all people have with fish that aren't from reliable sources.
So I say you will never know for sure. For my fish that fall under that catagory I keep them in the same tank, and if they have fry I hope they get eaten.
Could they be Metriaclima estherae (O), maybe, could the be hybrids, maybe you never know. The only thing that usually gives away these guys are there mouths, so do you think they are elongated... I tend towards maybe hence maybe hybrid. But again you never know, so then the choice is yours do you want to breed and sell them as possible hybrids? http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1729
It is tough, but if you are trying to get into breeding seriously don't. I mean the only way to really make it is to make a good name and if you sell fish you aren't 100% what they are then someday it will burn you.
That being said I again say they look cool, so there might be people that want possible hybrids that look cool. (Heck the ob fryeri is a great example of an hybrid that I really like.)
Anyways good luck on figuring out what is what. (And I didn't know that female peacocks could be bred to like like Taiwan Reefs, but if you never know.)

Definitly beyond a doubt ..do not want to breed any hybrids.. i believe if it happens my error .. so that is why i am so careful and i keep asking.. the taiwan reef info came about because i was going to order some Taiwan reef male ..so i asked the expert {i presume to be expert}since he is in the business of selling only hard to find malawi fish..by sending him a pic of her first..i figured if he wanted to make a sale he would have told me she was a Taiwan Reef but instead he wrote me back that she was a creation from the Far east trying to make more albino female taiwan reef..so needless to say i thanked him but did not buy the male taiwan reef from him since now i have no intention of breeding her.. i will just buy young ones..that is how careful i am.. i want the authentic real fish..also this fish made it really diffucult because i posted on two other forums and they said Taiwan reef also.. but if there is a doubt i am gunshy..

Hi Liz, I have a surprise for you. I believe, looking at the pics posted, that the fish in question could be Metriaclima barlowi. Why, because they are the only yellow fish with a blue colouring in their fins. The two would be males as the females are a drab brownish colour.:naughty::ROFL::headbang2:nilly:

Sorry TARHEELS to disappoint you but the male, of what you call RED ZEBRA(Metriaclima estherae) has a blue colouring with the female being red in colour. In all the books I have looked at the only yellow fish with pale blue fins is the Met. barlowi. Some of the Met. aurora's have some blue in their fins but not as per RED DEVIL'S pic's. Take a look at this pic I have posted of the M barlowi.:naughty::ROFL::headbang2:nilly:

None of the modern day male Red Zebras you find are blue. If you owned some red zebras, you would understand what im talking about. It is really hard to find actual Metriaclima Estherae. Red Devils fish doesnt even look like the Barlowi.
