Anyone have ideas for a couple of Ctenolucius hujeta. I was looking for some mid-water and lower level swimmers. I was hoping maybe for a lima shovelnose. All suggestions welcome.

well pretty soon i'm doing this.
-delhezi bichir
-weeksi bichir
-fire eel
-ornate chaca chaca catfish
-barracuda hujeta
if you are getting the lima shovelnose catfish; they are big but not mean catfish so they will go well together. BUT you will have to get a big tank. at least 180gallon
Red hooks tinfoil barbs, silver dollars, black ghost knives would all work.
Hujeta gars will only grow to about 10" in the aquarium.Smaller birchirs are always a good bet, lima cats would be o.k.we had ours in with horabagrus brachysoma, sun catfish, as would other oddballs such as elephant nose, ropefish and fish guppy said.

If you dig a little deeper you will find that the Ctenolucius hujeta come in three subspecies, the beanii, hujeta hujeta, and insculptus, one of these is reported (but not confirmed) to reach 70 cm. or 28", most reliable sources (ones that list their reference sources) list the confirmed max length as 28 cm or just over 11"s. I personally have never seen one bigger than about 10".

We have kept them for a number of years and there is no likelyhood of above 12",and that if your very lucky. They need to be kept in groups and unfortunately are not a very long lived fish.
