No it's not me, I change my tank water at least twice a week on all my tanks. It's one of my Dad's Co-workers. He tells me that he has 2-90 gallon tanks where he is breeding green terrors. He has between 30-60 in each tank. Now I bought 4 of them and they are pretty big. Very healthy. They are between 6-8 inches. He has like a 30 gallon wet/dry on both. Now he says he only changes the water every 6 months. I really don't believe him. Is this possible???????? I really, really, really doubt that it is, but why would he say this?

when I bought a 120 gl tank before there was this lady who I asked how often she cleans the tank she said it's rarely that she does it maybe almost 6 months too she said she just adds water if you see the dirt underneath the gravel it's really bad.

I can't imagine what his water parameters must be like with that type of bioload on a 90gal, I guess anything is possible but I doubt it.

A friend of mine had a 30 gallon tank with 2 6" jack dempseys and 1 common pleco.

the tank had been running for 1 year and he had never done a water change just add water when it got low. I told him his parameters were probly through the roof. The only thing is the jacks were breeding. I tested his water and there was not nitrite or ammonia but it had 200ppm nitrates.. So i guess it is possible,

Wow, that's some impressive stuf right there. I would never try that though.

yea but 200ppms of nitrate is definitely not good over a prolonged period. But hey, not one to judge.

My test kit went to 240 but it is hard to tell the difference between 200 and 240...lol

Not really much algae and no live plants.. I did not understand it.
