Blast my cursed ISP...rrrrg! Spent tha last two hours just trying to get on to check it. Sorry for the delayed response. The picture quality is less than desirable, but it looks like its a Crenicichla vittata. Is it yours? They are totally awesome pikes! They are on my wish list for sure! Awesome pikes!

Thanx PP! U R the man!
I bought it as a"C oscellatus" from a LFS about two weeks ago, if you remember.
It is about 6", shares an unheated 55 with a bigger Oscar. Eats for two.
That with the quality is true...

Better pictures will confirm, but pretty sure thats what it is. I would get a heater in that tank PRONTO....they need higher temps, I keep all my pikes in 83 to 85 degrees. I have less problems with ich and their growth and health is much better. Plus it really makes the colors come out...;)

Screw the colors! I do not have another heater and this guy seems to be doing fine without one. It is the oscar that is a bit sluggish.
The summer is starting and during the day the temperatures will be in the 90's and the humidity is around 80%. Some fish like it hot but I don't. I have thirteen tanks and the heaters on them do make a difference. More than 50g of water evaporate from the tanks in my apartment between monthly water changes at this time of the year. I will unplug all of the heaters today. It's a waste.

Even tho our Vittata has gold eyes... saw one this week @ LFS (Mike's Killer Fish / Denver) with red eyes. Good luck with I.D.
