I just thought you all would like to see the Lemon Yellow Oscar I purchased from a LFS about 3 weeks ago for $20. I feed him Cichlid Gold and Cichlid Staple which could have something to do with the color change but Im not complaining because hes the most vibrant Orange I have ever seen in an Oscar and I really dig it. why is that oscar spotted?
I dont know. He has always been spoted from day 1. When I got him the orangeish gold was white but when he started to grow it turned into the color he is now. Wierd.

Twisted's Jack Dempsey looks an awful lot like a female to me. Brilliant gill plate, the soft rays of the dorsal and anal fin aren't terribly long. Has it been vented to confirm that it is male? Or had a fry bearing spawn with a female? It just screams female to me. :confused:

He has two little nicks out of his tail because he was in a battle with my buddy's Amphilophus citrinellus. We assumed they would be fine because they're both tough enough to hold their own, but we were wrong. This nine inch red devil already killed a 10" Hoplias malabaricus, and nearly killed a 12" Midas. He is ridiculous. The only tankmates he's come to live with is a nine inch royal panaque, and an eight inch wild caught Crenicichla lenticulata. The pike doesn't back down, either. The pike is the only fish the red devil has run away from.

He is fine with me.I can keep my hand in the tank all day long without being attacked.Put him with another fish male or female and and all hell breaks loose.He seriously hates fish.I wouldn't even put him with my big Jag.The Jag would lose for sure.

These are a couple of wild caught TX cichlids I caught at a friends ranch near Bracketville, TX. I've caught TX cichlids from LOTS of places but this creek has a little something different in it. Besides the colors, there are some HUGE ones in there. The one seen here in my tank is 13+ inches:

I was afraid of that.. I think the best my fish will look is gonna be a washed out red color... He only has those when he's pissed off or attempting to spawn with my texas and JD.

hey bitter, what type of cichlid is that in the first picture, the one in the middle.
its a vieja of sorts. not sure exactly. its still stressed from when i picked it up, so the colors are washed out, ill be able to tell in a few days probably.
