I wanted to make sure it's a true hystrixs before I purchase. I tried taking some pictures with my cell phone. I don't think they came out very good but hopefully you'll be able to tell rather or not its a true hystrixs.

Female is 40 cm w/tail, 25 cm over disc.
Male is 30 cm w/tail, 17 cm over disc.

Beutyfull rays in good conditions. The male are a bit skinny, but i'll try to give him some good food.
Female was eating eartworms, after 10 min. in the tank. :)

They are now in a 450 liters quarantine tank for aprox one month. Then they will move in to my 4000 liters ray tank, with my P.motoro pair.

Not only "daddy" was happy when the new rays was in place. :D

My motoro rays are captive bred and (as far as I know) have never been fed live food. I acquired them at around 2-3 wks old and have been feeding them a staple diet of blackworms and red wigglers. I have noticed that my smaller male ray's fecal matter has bands of white running down the length of "the curly," but still solid. Whereas, my female's is one solid color all the way through. This worries me because their diets are the same, yet the fecal matter is different.

Both have good appetites, but I want to know. Its always better safe than sorry.


P.S. If I put the fecal matter under microscope, how am I suppose to ID it anyways?
