Couple of months back a friend of mine brought me couple of tiny Red Eared Slider turtles that he bought as pets for his kids, the were miserable with one of them looked like a soon to be dead case...
I agreed to take care of them while he is away for vacation. but he never came back to get them after he got back. I asked him to collect his pets.
but he told me he couldn't keep them any more and asked me to adopt them... I hated the idea of being forced to accept new pets...
but they looked so tiny & helpless...
Any way I took them in. & emptied one of my quarantine aquariums & thoroughly cleaned & disinfect it to prepare it for the new pets.

Here are some pictures of their new home

Hi All,

In recent years, researchers have found toxins in a wide array of snakes and lizards formerly believed to be harmless…even the Bearded Dragon is not above suspicion (please see below), but venomous pythons? While working at the Bronx Zoo, I was several times called upon to assist in confiscating snakes that had appeared in the pet trade before we learned of their potentially lethal venom (i.e. Asian Watersnakes, genus Rhabdophis). All evidence of toxicity must be taken seriously…bear in mind that both the Boomslang and Savanna Twig Snake were thought to be harmless until each killed a prominent herpetologist! The recent discovery of toxins in the mucus of certain pythons poses a unique and unexpected concern for snakebite victims.\

Studies at the University of Queensland have revealed the presence of toxins in the mucus of several python species. Read more here http://bit.ly/YVaSiX

Many of the world’s nearly 6,000 frog species make wonderful pets that may live for 10, 20 or even 50 years. Among them we find creatures that glide, brood their eggs in vocal sacs, form lifelong pair bonds and exhibit other fascinating behaviors. While the smallest is barely as large as a pea, the nine-pound African Bullfrog can chase lions away from its tadpoles! Today I’d like to introduce some of my favorites, each of which is hardy enough for beginners yet so interesting that herpetologists – myself included – regularly keep them as pets. Please be sure to let me know about your own “best pet frogs” by posting below. Read more here http://bit.ly/16P8Fun

I added a channel cat with my small koi and 2 clawed frogs, this was about two weeks ago. The catfish ended up having ick.

I always add salt after a water change but usually half of the recomended dosage. After I did my last water change I added the recommend dosage.

I also used what I think is malach green, the petstore sells the product in a unlabeled bottle. I assume they buy a large quantity bottle of something and break it down. I used this after two water changes. The petstore told me they use this in all their tanks and they had frogs, but I was still unsure of I should use it. I ended up using it with charcol with the medicine thinking it might be long enough to kill the ich and not harm the frogs. It did help with the a little but it came back.

Should I use this medicine without charcol? The frogs didn't seem to mind it. Can the frogs handle 87 degree water? They are between a year or two old.
