Just thought I'd share some photos of the FBT set up I'm building.
It's a standard 20 gallon tank that I have divided into three sections.

Section 1: A 6" deep, 2 gallon pool with live floating plants and some pieces of driftwood for the toads to lounge on and get in and out of the water with. Plus, it just looks nice.
Section 2: "The Lawn" as I like to call it. It's roughly a half square foot of live moss, making a beautiful lawn. I'm watering almost daily to promote growth and get it growing a little stronger. It's completely flush with the water and placed only 1/8 inch above the water level, giving it a nice seamless look and making it extremely easy on the toads.
Section 3: Another triangular shaped platform, about half a square foot, placed approximately 5 inches above "The Lawn". I'm not entirely sure that the toads will be able to jump up there, but it's fine. This area is where I'm growing some more live plants that will someday droop and dangle over the barrier and down to the lawn area, creating hiding places for the toads and more structure, definition, and dimension to the tank.

It's a pretty simple lay out. So far I've only spent like $5 on it and just put it together with stuff I already had or could find.
Right now I'm holding off on the toads for a little bit to get the plants growing a little, considering it is a completely living terrarium.

Here's some pics, be sure to let me know what you think
Fish/animals that need large habitats, large filtering systems and lots more for them to be able to stay alive. But I have to say hands down my favorite pet is my ornate horn frog aka pacman frog as people know them by. They are at almost every petstore, a beginner pet and an animal that most people walk by everyday and don't even take a second to look at wile in the LFS. This frog can be kept in a 10 gallon for almost life and all they need is a heat pad, water dish, spray bottle and food for the most part.

any one feel the same way about one of their pets? Feel free to share!

Hi All,
Recently I reported on a study that documented declines of 50-90% in 17 populations of 8 snake species (please see article linked below). These findings brought to mind the global amphibian decline that was first uncovered in 1990. Since then, an emerging disease caused by the fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatitis has likely caused the extinctions of over 100 frog species. Researchers seeking to avoid a similar crisis among the world’s snakes have now identified an emerging illness, Snake Fungal Disease, as cause for serious concern. Associated with a newly-described fungus, Chrysosporium ophiodiicola, the disease has been found in several species in 9 states (USA), but is likely much more widespread.

As anyone who has attempted to lift one by its tail knows, salamanders and newts can discard these body parts with no ill effect. In time, we learned that they can regenerate not only tails, but also heart, brain and spinal cord tissue…parts of any organ, it turns out, can be regrown. Furthermore, researchers describe the cell regeneration process as “perfect” – normal function is restored, and there is little if any scarring. Salamanders hold special interest for me. I’ve kept a great many species in zoos and at home, have studied several in the wild, and even had the happy opportunity to write two books on their care. I’ve always hoped that we would uncover the key to their mind-boggling abilities. I’m happy to report that a groundbreaking discovery has now given us some answers, and may lead to research of immense benefit to people suffering from a wide range of diseases and injuries.
