Who do you think is Japans most famous friend of our scaly friends of the seas?

It is Tenno Heika or how you say it in the west Emperor Akihito. Our emperor studied ichtyology and published many papers. He is very renomated in his subject and his main interest are gobiid species.
He is so far the only head of a nation worldwide who does still research beside his representative duties.

Tenno Heika breeds very sucessfull Koi in the imperial gardens of the palace

It is said, that there are many tanks in the palace where Tenno Heika keeps various fish from all around the world. No one has acess into the palace so no one knows exactly what is kept there beside the Koi which we can see in public display.

I like it very much that the Tenno has the same hobby that many of his people share since keeping fish is very popular in Japan.

Anyone else having trouble with the 'Monster App'??

I made a thread in the Comments/Bugs etc forum a while back and got no response, so I'll ask again here where it might get a bit more traffic...

I've been using the Monster App for Android for 10-12 monts, and every so often it simply quits working and has to be uninstalled and reinstalled before it works again. No idea what causes it, I click on the icon and it simply comes up with a 'Force Close' type message. Sometimes it will do it daily, other times it will go for a few days to a week even. Does this happen to anyone else?

Also recently it doesn't seem to be updating with new posts when I go to 'view my participated threads', but I understand that is a problem with the wider forum and is being worked on.

Got out of work a bit early today and decided to go to a fishing spot in the back of my neighborhood. This is the best tilapia spot around cape coral i swear. I was thier for a few hours.

First click on a state. When it opens, scroll down to the city and the names will appear.
Then click on their names. It should show you a picture of the person, or at least their bio and medals.

This really is an amazing web site. Someone spent a lot of time and effort to create it.

I hope that everyone who receives this appreciates what those who served in Vietnam sacrificed for our country.

The link below is a virtual wall of all those lost during the Vietnam war with the names, bio's and other information on our lost heroes. Those who remember that time frame, or perhaps lost friends or family can look them up on this site.

The last three males of an all-but-extinct fish species would really, really, really like to meet a female.

Once upon a time the Mangarahara cichlid (Ptychochromis insolitus) lived in a single habitat: a river in Madagascar from which the species gets its name. That river has now been dammed and the habitat has dried up. Today there are just three Mangarahara cichlids left�all males. Two reside at the Zoological Society of London�s (ZSL) London Zoo Aquarium; the third lives at the Berlin Zoo.

Although the species appears to be extinct in the wild, ZSL London Zoo hopes that somewhere, somehow a female or two might exist in private hands. �We are urgently appealing to anyone who owns or knows someone who may own these critically endangered fish, which are silver in color with an orange-tipped tail, so that we can start a breeding program here at the zoo to bring them back from the brink of extinction,� aquarium curator Brian Zimmerman said in a press release last week.

The zoo has already reached out to other facilities around the world, with no luck. Now the only hope lies in private aquarium owners, fish collectors and hobbyists who might see the zoo�s appeal and realize that they own a female cichlid. The zoo has even set up a dedicated e-mail address for anyone with information: fishappeal@zsl.org.

Of course, even if a female does turn up, breeding won�t be guaranteed. Zimmerman told the BBC News that the Berlin Zoo used to have a female that it had hoped to breed with its male. Instead, the male killed its potential mate. �It�s a fairly common thing with cichlids,� Zimmerman said.

Time may be of the essence: the two fish at London Zoo Aquarium are already 12 years old, and no one knows the lifespan of these little-studied, 5.5 centimeter fish. The Mangarahara cichlid was only identified as a new species back in 2006. Sadly, that may have been just in time for us to carve its name on its tombstone.
