A 7" Jag can easily go 2 weeks without eating. Just have your roommate feed him 1 day after the first week, that'll be more than enough.

Thanks for the input guys, I've halved his feeding to once a day. I did a water change last night and removed all of the wood. Planning 1 more big change on Sunday before I leave. Depending on how the parameters test before I do the change, I'll make a decision on whether to cut the feeding back further. Don't think I've got the heart to leave him for 2 weeks without any chow though, lol.
Thanks
Steve

I'd do what the poster above said, and have your roommate feed him 1 week in, using a food package you've prepared yourself. Whatever you do don't let your roommate choose the food, I've came back to tanks filled with food (and dead fish) after asking people to feed my fish lol

I would not feed the day before leaving either, just do a fin level water change. clean the filters.
