So I want 1 more ray.. my wife thinks 3 rays is enough we currently have 2 females and 1 male. I want 1 more she says we already have to many. I think she may be right (ish) but I would like a couple opinions before I crush my dream of a pair or bds…Current stocking in (8x4x2.5)
3 rays (2 hybrids and 1 black Diamond female)
5 orino bass
4 Oscar’s
11 silver dollars
2 aro’s

with an 8'x4' footprint i feel like 1 more isnt going to make or break anything. as long as your filtration is up to the job. rays are a huge bio load. that being said. theres always going to be someone who thinks its to much. even if you had 1.

4 is probably fine i agree… even mature at 22-24”+ disc u still have the bare minimum room to separate a prego female easy. Id keep just the 1 male tho. IME mature males dont get along well. As for ur “dithers” thats where u may need to cut stock. As the rays grow they’ll probably do that for u tho haha… prego females really enjoy “dithers”…

Thanks for the input!! I think my filter is up for it? I have a 100 gal Rubbermaid stock tank with two trash cans full of media. Matrix, scrubbies, lava rock and bio balls also running a drip system

Ha ha okay well I won’t count on my silver dollars making it long term. I honestly don’t think the Oscar’s will either cause if they start picking at the rays I’m gonna pull them. I hope the orino peacock bass work out though I really like them.

maybe i have been luckey but ive never had peacock bass pick on or even show interest in anything they cant swallow. i havent even had aggression between bass as long as theres 3 or more.

They aren't too bad. I've never had issues with peacock bass and rays behavior wise. They just make it harder to get enough food to the rays
