Greeting guys,

Picked up a new baby gar from LFS.

Sold to me as, Indonesia Sumatra Gar (The seller claimed)

Just love this new baby Gar, a hyper active one !

this would be my 6th Gar!

MY QUESTION IS : What kind of Gar is this? Spotted? ID ???

Agree with you, Oddball.

But, as i can see from this cute little gar, his head's structure was slightly different from others juvenile Spotted gar.

Secondly, his eye, was BIGGER than other juvenile spotted gar too. All my previous spotted car doesn't have BIG eye while they young. Only Alligator Gar does !

It might be bred in Indonesia, slight changes.

eye size may be due to stunting. looks to be a florida gar. Oddball Oddball , true spotted gars are quite difficult to find around here.

idk folks....that slightly upturned snout and visible teeth with mouth closed are atractosteus traits....

The rest of that fish looks florida gar, but the head...i just dont know...following this one....

only the eye look a bit like young gator, but a stunted Florida gar would look the same.

upturned snout is a birth/growth defect. it's 100% not a gator.
