suitable for potable water does NOT mean it's safe for aquatic animals.
While this is technically true, it's usually a safe bet that potable water requirements are more stringent than the typical fishkeepers. The only place this falls down is water treatments like chlorine, fluorine, and other germicides that are deemed safe for potable water, that you don't want in your tank. Potable water storage tanks and materials have to pass extraordinarily strict leeching requirements. Many of the materials we use in building tanks are NOT certified for potable water, and are not even rated for continuous submersion.

I've been quiet on here for a while but I have also been busy,

I'm hunting down a suitable welder and will probably start my welding training in March (as long as I get a spot, they prioritize work related applications).

I think a 130 Amp MIG welder will do the job and I can still use it at home without installing specialised power.

Update:

I've just finished moving to a new house. There is a a perfect spot with a 9' floor to ceiling window where I can install my planned tank. I'm thinking of giving up the idea of setting up a portable tank and instead installing a permanent one (this house is massive and I doubt I will be leaving it in the next 10 years).

Moving my 1000ltr was a nightmare! Almost smashed the thing.
