      I just saw a 11 - 12 inch bala shark (tri-color) for $45.
I was thinkin of getting it for my oscar tank.

I never saw a real live bala at 1 foot.
I mean I've seen vids and pics of large balas but I was amazed at the LFS.

I've never seen one larger than 5 inches. Awesome find. How big is your tank?

I have a 125 with 3 x 8" oscars and would like to add the bala.
I'm concern about filtration and compatibility issues. I'm only running
3 emperor 400s and doing 20% weekly water changes.

Should I buy this bala? It is a rare find and I'm concern I'll
      miss out on this.

      ;)

i've seen them in the lfs around me quite a few times.....even a shoal of them at that......i think the 3 400s should be fine....even though oscars are very messy that is a good amount of filtration and u should be ok....only thing i would suggest is try getting some other ones maybe not that size but large so he's not alone.....they are more of a schooling fish he wouldnt be very happy alone

I've been offered balas this size from the guy who sold me a 2' SAL and a dinner-plate-sized motoro.
I thought it would be too much for a 130g with above metntioned SAL, motoro and a 1' black aro. Was I wrong?

I haven't actually seen the balas.

What's a tri-color bala shark? I know what is a bala shark, but never heard of a "tri-color".

Go for the bala, I had two in a 125 and they seemed fine with Africans and it was filtered with 400's as well
