I had the same dilemma. Except I had my dovii since he was an inch long.and my girlfriend really liked the jag and named him Brutus. But eventually I went with the fish that I had the longest.

If you only have the one 75 gallon tank keep the Jag. If your wife likes the jag keep the jag it'll pay off in the long run. You can get another Dovii down the road when you have a tank big enough for it. It's not like their rare you can get another one any time you want.
This is essentially what i was gonna say. Its the same thing i always tell the oscar people, the fish will be there in the future.

Its an amazing dovii, wish i lived closer.

Thanks everyone for the help. I've decided to stick with my jag. You're very right Aquanero, I can get another one. Perhaps when I'm a little more prepared. I'm still really bummed. I would have a hard time explaining to my kids what happened to the jag, they've grown up with him. Here's a pic of one of my son's having a deep conversation with Grumpy.
