Badass pond. I'm thinking of buidling an above ground pond next spring in my backyard. 10'x8'x???. Would that be suitable for putitora? Also did you buy them as babies or fairly big already? Not sure I want to go the koi route and want something that will survive bay area winters.

My pond is only 1600g, 4ft deep. Seem to be acceptable. I had koi for over 20yrs. and decided to go the mahseer route. Got all my fish from Rare Fish (Wes) at 1". Now some have grown to 24".

Thanks or sharing Ken. Always enjoy seeing your Mahseer updates.
Thanks Al. Very simple and easy fish to keep. May try to feed cut fish to see if any change in color and growth.

Wow, those are some amazing fish! That'd be cool if I could have a small school in the pond I'm getting I April (it'll be at least 1000G probably more around 1500-1800G. Can they survive under ice by any chance?

Love it Ken!
I would have a pond if I could but it would just be a big bear bath.
Good to see you still updating. And thanks for sharing.

I know that smaller cyprinids (eg phoxinus phonixus) realease hormones into the water that warn other fish. Doubt something as huge as a mahseer would do that, though.
Nice video, fish are looking sharp.
That's exactly why the fishermen do this; Mahseers are technically giant minnows, and the thought is that their release of the pheromone would kill the bite.
