You buy it, its yours for life.

THAT IS EXACTLY RIGHT. THIS STATEMENT SUMS UP THIS ENTIRE THREAD. WHEN YOU BUY A FISH, REMEMBER THIS THREAD. IT IS YOURS FOR LIFE.

If there is ANY reason you can't keep it that long, give it away or sell it.

I don't know why the fish books don't mention this. None of mine do.

I am gald I haven't heard any detractors to this thread. It seems that MFK is on board! Note to government officials: Most fishkeepers are responsible!

i agree, snakeheads are now a "kill on sight" fish in the great lakes. that means if you catch one and are caught keeping it alive, you can go to jail and pay a hefty fine.

Ill agree of course on the non-native fish but native can be placed back. Ive caught and held some fish that dont have size limits, like crokers, gars and white trout. Crokers and white trout can be used as bait, and thats how they get back in...
It is best not to hold natives with non-natives if you are going to be using them for bait, you don't want to risk speading any crosscontaminants like hexamita.
