Here's a few pics of my two Stalsbergi. I'm not sure if I have a male and female or two females. Let me know what you think. Thanks, and sorry for the crappy pics

Hi Eric, I wasn't able to even throw a guess on what sex my Stals were until they were around 5-6 inches. The one distinguishing feature that I have noticed is males have long and pointy streamers on their Anal and soft dorsal. The females are more blunt and round.

I see that the fish in your 3rd pic has a kind of pointy anal fin, so you may have hope of that one being a male but I think that they are a little too young to accurately sex. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll have to grow them out a little bit more before I know what I have. Fingers crossed for one of each.

I have five of these growouts and one has taken off in growth.
The next three are identical in size and the last one is allot smaller, so I separated her(if its a her).
They are 3 to 4 inches so time will tell.
I also separated the large one and kept the three of similar size together. So far so good.
I heard this type is more aggressive than the gold saum but have not seen it yet.

I have kept both in the same tank (Rivulatus and Stalsbergi) and as far as aggression goes they are pretty close. Also in my experience Saums grow a lot faster than Stalsbergi do....The biggest Stal that i have right now is pushing 9 inches.

Wow, that`s big for them.
I`m not sure what to do.
Should I put both species in a 600 or keep the seperated
Are they more aggressive at that size than a gold saum

It just depends on who is bigger and who wants to claim the tank. I have one 4 inch Rivulatus Feamle in with the rest of my Stals and the ones the same size pretty much leave each other alone. I had a 12 inch Riv that nobody messed with...even the big Stals.....one thing to keep in mind is that Rivulatus and Stalsbergi will Spawn with each other....so if you are wanting to keep the Gene pools separate its a good Idea to separate.
