Welcome to MonsterFishKeepers.com

The members of this forum have come together to share our knowledge and experiences of fish keeping. We want to answer your questions, offer advice and fill the galleries with pictures of the fish we have all grown to love.

We are a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. The majority of our fish collections include RARE & EXOTIC Species of all sizes, BIG FISH with BIG APPETITES and BIG TANKS. It's not easy for most people or other "regular" fish keepers to understand why we maintain this type of collection and spare no expense on this fascinating hobby.

Hopefully, through this site and discussion forums we can encourage the next generation of Monster Fish Keepers to have the same passion and love we have for the hobby and our Monster Fish .

I know Cichlids are very intelligent but which one stands out to you for brain power?

For me the most intelligent has to be a Geophagus Steindachneri Red Hump Eartheater.

My adult male was very intelligent, very crafty and was extremely confident with everything.

He made his tank his home and if a sunken pellet ended up under a rock he set about unearthing it for days on end sometimes even a week.

Constant digging but used to do it in such a way so that the rock wouldnt fall it was very funny.

      Great Cichlid.

Oscars. My Oscars would hit the top of their tank if I forget to feed them.

My severums are scary smart. Im sure they re arrange their tank just to make me mad or to get attention. They are my little buddies.

(oscars are like bricks. As tough as one but twice as dumb.)

My Dovii and Jag, these 2 have distince personallities, and are both cold and calculating, quick to discover easy solutions to and problem they encounter.
and for some reason my jag used to spit sand into the intake of one of my FX5s, I actually witnessed the dovii see this from across the room and copy, was an odd display.
