Doing some research on pseudoplatystoma, and came across this document.

PSEUDOPLATYSTOMA GARCIAMARQUEZI, A NEW SPECIES OF
GIANT TIGER CATFISH (SILURIFORMES, PIMELODIDAE) FROM
THE MAGDALENA BASIN, COLOMBIA: A SPECIES THREATENED
WITH EXTINCTION

Found here:
http://www.ibcperu.org/doc/isis/7162.pdf

Based on evidence presented within that would make this the 9th recognized species in the genus. It is also evident from reading it that it has many of the same authors and ichthyologists as the document that set up the 8 species described in the beginning of this thread. Many of the same methods were used to describe this species, and there is speculation within that it could be the largest of all the Pseudoplatystoma species. Also would be considered an endangered species. :(

hey all anyone id my tsn? i local guy virtually gave me three catfish a 14inch tsn, a 10 inch rtc and what i think is a 8 inch short bodied rtc! thought they'd be better off in my 300 for a while rather than some lad with a 4ft tank buying them!? maybe a big mistake!!! hopefully i can get my mortgage sorted for my new place and build a pond or find them good homes...

back to the main question, anyone id this guy, hoping he's a smaller strain!?

i think its Pseudoplatystoma orinocoense, planet catfish says max size is 20 inch which is great for me.... that would make him a keeper!-)
