My mystery Sump

Its a 225 tank on top of a stand which is a 180 sump. All acrylic

I cant figure out the proper way to set it up

There are five dividers but its open on the bottom. So not separate chambers or baffles

On top of each chamber there is basket on which i have filter pads etc....
I put in one chamer pond matrix. Because supposed to be effective even if submerged

Please see my rough sketch and provide your two cents. Im stumped. Unless i seal up the bottom and covert to baffles

1) Remove the dividers and re silicon them to you own liking.
2) Fill it with media with out baskets. Have the overflow on one side and the pump on the other. Water will flow over and under the dividers.
3) Grow some plants down there.
4) Your current plan looks good keep it if you like it.

As of now it drains into the five chambers at the same time. The only way to change that would be to remove tank and replace pipe amd then play around with the sump design

Just trying to figure out why it was designed like this and how to use correctly as is
