If you guys were getting a large tank what manufacturer would you go with ? I like the marine land 300 dd but read a few reviews online that are making me think twice.

I looking into something like an 8x2 or 6x3 tank

You always hear bad things about Classcages but about a year ago I bought a 300 gallon( 96x30x25) and couldn't be happier. Good customer service and tank came looking great! Id buy again if i ever need another large tank

I have heard good things about glasscages for the price... biggest downside I hear about them is that they don't add proper bump spacing in between their glass mating points... like you would find on higher-end tanks. Kind of a get what you pay for thing... I have always gone the cheaper Craigslist route and re-sealed the inner seals on various 90G - 240G tanks... only downside is you rarely, if ever find a scratch-free tank.

Not too handy or comfortable sealing a tank.....i know that would end in disaster

Those Marineland 300g are really nice tanks. You're lucky given your geographic area because there are a few local tank builders in the area. Beital's does incredible work with glass and there are a few acrylic guys on the reef forums that can help you out.

Nothing bad to say about glasscages here. I bought a 300g in 2005. I don't own it anymore but it's still up and running. For the price you can't beat it. It's not a show tank as they use a lot of eurobracing and silicone. But build it in a wall like I did and you can hide all of it

I brought the DD from someone in CT so I had a friend deliver food to CT at the time.. brought it back to nyc, got 6 friends to help moved to basement without a scratch.. recently got a house so hired movers to move the DD plus a 180 to the basement of this house and resetup everything... Good tank but down side is that allbulkheads r for 1".. max flow r 1400 gph..
