Best way to learn how to positively ID cichla is to collect them all and raise them from babies. :)

Yea, I wish I could raise all of the chicla's from babies, however all i have is 2 hybrids :(

You'll get there. I started off with a couple of Peruvian monos and a couple of Ven orinos. I've owned all but two cichla sp. on the market.

yea, I started my own thread a while back and there are some pictures on there, the bass have a great personality, but dull colors.

oh yes i just found your thread . i did see it before im sure there still a blast to own i like there shape but hard to really see the color from the dark pics too.

my little azuls are growing nicely there soo beautiful and awesome to watch grow . i was having a bit of an issue with the bigger one beating on the smaller one . so i separated them and put the bigger one in another tank . hes been kinda starving himself as of late so put them back together today. the smaller one is letting him know hes the new boss though. just hope he leaves him alone soon to eat as im a little worried about him
