So Friday I am going to pick up my 125. I am looking at building a 55g sump underneath. I would also like to build a nitrate reactor. I know the basic construction but what media should I use to build up the anaerobic bacteria?

Is this freshwater? I personally don't worry about nitrate that much. I do big weekly water changes so that all the bad stuff comes out, not just the nitrate. If you are going to do a sump I would use K2 since it is self cleaning and very effective.
