So, I've been doing a lot of collecting lately and I've been trying to find warmouths. I live in Southern Illinois and I know they are pretty common around here but I can't find any. What kind of habitat should I be looking for to find them?

The only time I caught them was at the Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife area in IN. The fish were caught in some pretty "swampy" water: shallow and very weedy.

I think they are being sold at the site below at a very small size:

I catch them from 8-12" in our marina in presque isle bay in Lake Erie. They like heavily vegetated, still, warm, "swampy" water.

Thanks for the info guys. Between here and the NANFA forum shallow, heavily vegetated, and swampy seem to be the key words I'm looking for.
Yeah, I saw a few of the NANFA guys pointed out some good specific spots as well. Good luck finding some fish!
