My Congicus bichir did this once to one of my widebars when they were around 5-6". No way it could of ate it but it could of injured it. I should of took a picture when I happen. But my first reaction was to tap the tank made the bichir let it go.
Yeah I tapped the tank hard multiple times and this guy wouldn't let go. Finally had to try to catch the wolf to make him let go haha.

I have a specimen now, my first one. Have always wanted one. In my 20 years of fishkeeping, I've never had a fish with such a, level of CONSTANT prey drive. I took a video of it jumping at least 3" out of the tank multiple times, at a pair of tongs holding a pellet, and grabbing the pellet on one breach. It watches droplets form and fall on the lid, day and night, and at night...whap, it hits some of them...It's kept alone, and will be as it's a pure psycho at only about 3 1/2-4".
