Very sad news Jim, can only think the toxins building up from the decomposing pup destroyed her vital organs.
The pup is very nice as already said, she handed you a parting gift, in these situations just remember there is absolutely nothing you could have done to change the outcome here, no one could have, its the dark side of this hobby, thankfully it doesn't happen too often.

Yeah, the dead pup must have done a number on her insides. The last day before she went her eyes totally red- looked like filled with blood. The pup is a nice present for sure. It is a pretty helpless feeling.
