So here's the Paint Image of my idea- although execution may change, as the image is not yet to scale. (anyone have a good software for creating timber frame stands?)
The 90G might go up or down as may the 125's.
SO 4 main tanks and a 120G sump. Tanks are as follows-clockwise from the top right:
(semi-mean 125G)
Mean 125G
(sump)
90G
40G breeder-Pothos sump
Fed by my new to me Snapper external pump.
So Here I am- a virtual blank slate- nothing but the tanks/sump/pump bought yet. I'm retiring the 125G metal stand and collecting the 125G on my floor and placing it into the sump system I am running. I want some input on setting up the sump. This is my 1st external setup and hopefully last one for a long time.
The 120G (4x2x2) sump has mechanical drip trays in it, but was used as a saltwater sump, so I am assuming it had a big protein skimmer in it and a bunch of live rock-there are NO OTHER BULKHEADS-water was drawn into an external pump through a DIY well screen-it's acrylic, so there are a few holes in it to drain/flush/whatever.
I will be using all the media from my current sump-rinsing them (in tank water) and reusing them in my new sump. reusing the intake after adapting my smaller fittings (same diameter piping) running the PVC-possibly spa hose- up to the various tanks, then using multiple HOB overflows , drain the water back to the sump using super flexy/cheap sump hose.
Would you do anything to modify the sump for freshwater?
What size pipe/spa hose should I use to feed my x4 tanks? -the tallest head height is about 7' tops.
Where's the best place to get PVC fittings and ball valves- HomeDepot is $$$!
General thoughts and or ideas?
Hue project, and I'm not too sure how the logistics will work out either- moving fish and tanks takes time- so I want ALL the parts of the new setup on hand before I start the process-ie-built stand at the ready!
